Stampin’ Up! Delicate Dahlias Cards: 2 Step Stamping, Soft Pastels and Water Coloring

Delicate Dahlias Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set

I had great fun playing with the Delicate Dahlias Stamp Set. It is a two step stamp set:
Step 1: outline stamps and
Step 2: beautifully detailed stamps to color in the outline images.

Two Step Stamping

I made two simple cards using the two step stamping technique. It is quit simple to line up the two stamps, but it is not necessary to line them up perfectly. The effect is beautiful either way.

These cards are perfect for beginner stampers. I used them for a demo meeting in our neighborhood.

Coloring the Dahlias with Soft Pastels

I wanted tot try the new Soft Pastels on Versamark stamped images. For the two cards I stamped the step 2 stamps in Versamark. With sponge daubers I picked up some powder from the Soft Pastels and gently rubbed it on the Versamark images. You can even blend some of the colors.

I love the beautiful soft colors of these cards.

Water Color Dahlias

Finally I wanted to use my favorite technique: water coloring embossed images. For the first card I heat embossed the images in white. I used Water Color Pencils and a Water Painter to color the flowers and leaves. It took some time fuzzy cutting the images, but the result is worth it.

For my last card, I heat embossed the flowers in gold and used a water painter and ink to color the images. The leaves were die-cut with the Sunflowers dies from gold metallic specialty paper.

I am really happy with these cards and I especially love the last one.

I hope you wil try some of the techniques and have fun stamping.
