Knitted Socks as a Birthday Gift
Occasionally, I like to gift someone a pair of knitted socks. This pair I made especially for a colleague and friend for her birthday.
Create a custom box
First thing I wanted to make was a reinforced lidded box for the socks. You can see here how I make a reinforced lidded box. For this one I needed a lot of paper and the box was too big to be made out of 1 sheet of paper, even a 12” x 12” one. I used two sheets of paper and adhered them on the bottom of the box.
I made a topper for the box using the ‘smooshing’ technique. This was part of The Daily Marker 30 Day coloring challenge. This one was for day 17 as you can see here on my Instagram account. Of course I made sure the colors match the colors of the socks. I die-cut several stars from the Stitched Stars Dies and the letters for her name form the Hand-Lettered Prose Dies out of Sparkle Glimmer Paper.
Birthday Card
I made a matching birthday card with a left over piece of the smooshing paper.
This time I die-cut some stars and ornaments out of blue foile paper.
The sentiment is form the retired stamp set “All That You Are”.
A Matching Gift Bag
Now all I wanted to do was to make a matching giftbag. I really love making giftbags. For this one I used two sheets of Action 12” x 12” paper that match in color with the box and birthday card.
The giftbag measures 8 1/2” x 8 1/2” by 3” deep.
It closes with two velcro dots on the inside of the bag.
To embellish the giftbag, I made a starry front. I made this front for day 21 of The Daily Marker 30 Day challenge. You can see it here at my Instagram account. I even added some starry rhinestones.
Complete Gift Set
I like how this set came out and how great the socks fit the set. My friend was very happy with the socks and the gift set.
Super mooie set! En het past ook heel goed bij de sokken.
Dank Marieke. Ik was er ook erg blij mee. Stiekem best een beetje jammer dat ik ‘m heb weggeven. ?
